Issue

When the AirPcap NX wireless capture adapter is plugged into a USB3 port and a program attempts to access it for packet capture, the computer will crash with a blue screen error.

Solution

There are four potential workarounds:
1) For non-Intel USB 3.x chipsets, use the v4.1.3 driver.
If you are using non-Intel chipsets (this is uncommon), then the updated AirPcap Nx driver (v4.1.3) will address the Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) issue.  In internal testing with the AirPcap v4.1.3 driver and several non-Intel-based USB3.x chipsets, the BSoD did not occur.

However, the BSoD will still occur if you use the AirPcap driver (v4.1.3) with Intel-based USB version 3.x ports.  This is due to a bug in the Intel driver.

2)    Change the BIOS settings.
Some Windows 7 users report that they can turn off the USB 3.0 setting from the BIOS.  After rebooting, the USB ports operate at USB 2.0 performance and they are able to use the AirPcap driver without the BSoD.

3)    Use a workstation that has a USB version 2 port.

4)    Use the new driver on a Windows 8 workstation.
