Issue

When the Cascade Shark's Profiler Export public certificate and private key are changed on the Shark but the public certificate file is not added to the Profiler's list of trusted certificates, the Shark is not able to authenticate to the Profiler and export MNMP data to it.  You will see the following error on the Shark's Web UI Status page:

SSL Exception: error:14094418:SSL routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:tlsv1 alert unknown ca

Solution

The solution is to copy the public certificate from the Shark to the Profiler's trusted certificates list.

On Cascade Shark:

  1. Log into the Shark web UI and navigate to Settings > SSL Certificate Management.
  2. Click Profiler Export then View PEM.
  3. Copy the certificate text.

On Cascade Profiler:

  1. Log into the Profiler and navigate to Configuration > Appliance Security > Encryption Key Management.
  2. Click on the Trusted Certificates tab and select Add New Certificate.
  3. Enter a description, then paste the certificate text.

The error message should no longer be present and the Shark should now be able to export to the Profiler.
