Issue
If you are experiencing a problem with your SteelHead, SteelCentral Controller for SteelHead, SteelCentral Mobile Controller, SteelHead Interceptor or SteelFusion appliance and you can access the appliance, please send us a system dump (sysdump) from each impacted device to help us diagnose the issue.

To generate a sysdump from the Web Management Console for a SteelHead, SteelCentral Controller for SteelHead, SteelCentral Mobile Controller, SteelHead Interceptor or SteelFusion appliance:

1. Go to Reports > Diagnostics > System Dump  (Figure 1). 
2. Select: Include Statistics, Include All Logs (Figure 2) and include VSP for Steelhead EX devices only. 
3. Click Generate System Dump.
4. After generating the system dump click on the magnifying glass of the file you want to upload or right click and download the file to your PC.
 
Starting RiOS 8.5 or above SteelHead/SteelCentral Controller introduces a new way of uploading system dumps directly from the SteelHead using a case number. In order to successfully use this method, the primary SteelHead interface needs to has access to make an outbound FTP connection to ftp.riverbed.com.
        
5. Enter in your existing case number (Figure 3)
6. Click Upload.
7. The TAC engineer will be automatically notified of a new file. If this is urgent, please contact the engineer to inform them of your upload.

Uploading files from the CLI

To generate a sysdump from the Command Line (CLI) for a SteelHead, SteelCentral Controller for SteelHead, SteelCentral Mobile Controller, SteelHead Interceptor or SteelFusion:

1.  Login to the appliance via telnet or SSH
2. Type en
3. Type debug generate dump all-logs upload <case #> to generate and upload the sysdump to Riverbed Support.

Example:
Steelhead (config) # debug generate dump all-logs upload 5555            */ 5555 is the case #

NOTE: The primary interface of the appliance must be able to make an outbound FTP/SFTP connection to ftp.riverbed.com or sftp1.riverbed.com for this method to work.


Alternative method using SFTP:
 
Steelhead (config) # logging local info
Steelhead (config) # debug generate dump full
Steelhead (config) #
Steelhead (config) # show file debug-dump
sysdump-SteelHead-XXXXXXXX-YYYYYY.tgz

Steelhead (config) # file debug-dump upload sysdump-SteelHead-XXXXXXXX-YYYYYY.tgz scp://sftpuser@sftp1.riverbed.com/incoming/case_55555_sysdump-SteelHead-XXXXXXXX-YYYYYY.tgz

Steelhead (config) # show uploads     <<< This command will show you the status of the upload
