Issue

I get the error C1033 cannot open program database c:\program files\opnet\10.0.a\sys\pc_intel_win32\bin\vc60.pdb when trying to debug a simulation using Microsoft Visual C++

Solution

This error usually occurs due to not having read/write privileges to the OPNET directory.

Make sure that the directory: C:\Program Files\OPNET\10.0.A\sys\pc_intel_win32\bin has read/write privileges as the MS debugger will try to create this vc60.pdb file there each time you link a discrete event simulation.

This error can also occur in some situations when using compilation and binder flags that the system doesn't properly understand.

To work around that error, set your comp_flags* and bind_*_flags* preferences to use /Z7 but not /Zi.  This is also logged as software problem report 51315, and was fixed for 10.0 PL2.
